Interview Mania!

Last Tuesday on the 7th of December 2010. I had my first interview, with the HSBC Group. I was wrong. I thought it was the HSBC Bank, but actually it's only the subsidiary of HSBC Group. Whereby in a big company called HSBC Group have this little children named HSBC Bank, HSBC Finance and so on. I went to the interview for the post Global Support Executive in the HSBC Eletronic and Processing base in Cyberjaya. I was scared at first. I went there alone. Mommy and Daddy left me there all by myself. They told me that it was time that I learn. Fine! I went in and ask. There were so many people! I was shocked, then I talked to this girl beside me. She told me that after the assessment test there is an interview straight away! I was not being told! Never mind then I guess, daddy told be that being honest and frank would be the possible and right way to act! :) I arrived at 12.00pm sharp! Was told to wait in the lobby until 12.30pm then the registration starts.

I waited and waited. Then they called in for the assessment test. It was an English Test BUPLAS from Cambridge. The test was about Grammer, Cloze Passage and Listening. One question was allocated only 30 seconds to answer. I answered all and shockingly that I was the first one to exit. Haha :) Then I was told to wait outside. As I was waiting, this lady from the HR Department called some of the candidates. She was talking about something I was not sure off. Then one of it was the girl sitting right next to me. I asked her whats wrong. She told me that she did not pass the assessment test and that's all for today. What?? That's all for today??? Oh my god! I was nervous wrecking up and down! Then they told us to wait for our interview. I was like WHAT!! What interview?? I was not being told. I didn't read anything about HSBC! The depressing part is that I was the last one to be called for the interview. This lady Suzanna called me in for an interview. At first I was scared, but then I just had to go through it! :)

Suzanna: Is this where you sit for your test just now?
Me : Nope, that one.
Suzanna: I see, then this is not being vacant just now?
Me : Yup, Excuse me, is there something wrong with my test?
Suzanna: No. Not at all. You did good.
Me : Thank you (with a smile)
Suzanna: So let me see. Shazana. Can I have your application form please?
Me : Sure. Here you are. (While handing it)
Suzanna: Can you please fill up the date and month.
Me : Sure.
Suzanna: And between your SPM and Matriculation, what did you do?
Me : I worked in a Shoe Shop. Ermm, Primavera!
Suzanna: Okayh, let see. Why do you choose HSBC?
Me : Because..ermm..Because...
Suzanna: (Smiling)
Me : You see, I always see my mother use a HSBC credit card since I was small, and recently, HSBC just open up a
branch in Shah Alam. It's everywhere.. :)
Suzanna: Okayh..The working hours here are shifts and there are no public holidays according to our country, it depends
on which country you will be assigned to. Are you ok with that?
Me : I'm ok.
Suzanna: And you will not have a leave for Raya. It can be applied but subject to changes. You do celebrate Raya do you?
Me : I'm ok with that. Anyway, I'm staying with my parents now. And eventhough I have to come back home late. It will
still be in the same day. So, my parents will be at home when I come home. It will still be raya. Right? :)
Suzanna: Oh yes. You're right. (Laughing) So. Is it ok if you have to me to KL and sometimes to Cyberjaya from one time to
               a time?
Me : I'm ok with it.

Me : I'm ok with it because i'll be driving. I'm ok with both of it.
Suzanna: Ok. So when do you thing you can start?
Me : 4th Jan 2011.
Suzanna: Why is that?
Me : I'll be flying to Abu Dhabi this Thursday.
Suzanna: I see. What a nice holiday.
Me : Oh yes. :)
Suzanna: Can you please tell me you weakness and yous strength?
Me: My strength would be I'm a fast learner. I pick up things very fast. urmm..
Suzanna: ok.So are you a team player?
Me: Of course I am..hehe :)
Suzanna: (Laughing)
Me: (Laughing)
Suzanna: How much salary would you be asking?
Me: Around ****
Suzanna: We have a job opening but its <****? Are you ok with it?
Me: I'm ok.:)
Suzanna: Do u want to work in Cyberjaya or Kuala Lumpur?
Me: Both also I'm fine :)
Suzanna: (smiling) Ok, I will arrange you for your 2nd interview on Thursday. Let say 3.30pm
Me: mam, I'm so sorry but my flight is on Thursday and I have to be at the airport by 5pm.
Suzanna: Oh yeah. I forgot. Ok. Why not you go tomorrow to our base in KL. around 5.30pm.
Me: ok.No problem.
Suzanna: So how am I going to summarize why you choose HSBC? (laughing)
Me: I have no idea! But when HSBC pops up the net. I straight away zoom to it and oh! HSBC! hehe (smiling)
Suzanna: (laughing) Ok then. I'll schedule you for tomorrow at KL at 5.30. You know over there at the Bursa Malaysia

Suzanna: Ok then. ( gives hand to shake) good luck for tomorrow..
Me: Thank you..:)

When I came back to my parents. They were eating at a nearby restuarant named the Saba Restaurant. It's Arabian food is the best over there! Then Handith Chicken..Nyum! Nyum! My parents sent me at HSBC early at noon since it's my first time interviewing and everybody is so excited about it! :) Exactly when my father pick me up. I asked my dad. " Daddy, where is Bursa Malaysia??" hahaha. Till then.

  2. Hi Min! Sorry for the late reply! So great to here that you'll be coming to HSBC :) Well, the interview assessment is Ok OK..hehe..the English test is more towards listening and grammer and the interview was just like talking between two friends. But don't worry, they just wat to test your communication skills. As long as you can talk and be very friendly, you will definitely be doing great! :) Good luck! :)

    1. Hi Amy! Congratulations for the interview calling! I wore a pant suit during my interview. But baju kurung would be fine, try and wear a modern kurung with heels, it will definitely pop in some of the professional look in it..Good Luck! :)
